Find trusted tradesmen for elderly
It’s difficult to find tradespeople you can trust and it’s even more of a worry when an older, vulnerable person needs help. That’s why the government have set up TrustMark.
What should you look for when hiring a tradesman?
1. Make sure they are licensed for their trade. You can check this via the TrustMark search on this page.
2. Be specific clear about what you want the tradesman to do
3. Ideally, get three quotes to compare. The cheapest will not always offer the best quality, but shoudl enable you to make a balanced judgement
4. Trusted firms should have a land-line number. Be wary of those who only have a mobile number
5. Ask for references and try to speak to previous customers
6. Ask for a written estimate and contract to protect you if anything goes wrong
