Technology tip of the week: Why upgrade to Windows 10?
With all software comes updates. So why upgrade to Windows 10 at the end of July 2015?
Windows 10 is nearly upon us and many will be pondering the question “Should I upgrade to Windows 10?” or stick with a previous version? You may not even know what Windows 10 is all about. Many users were frustrated with Windows 8 (then 8.1) when it came out because it did away with what we were all used to from Windows XP and Windows 7 – namely the Start button, the easy to use desktop and so forth.
This is Microsoft’s way of making things easy again and there are plenty of reasons to embrace Windows 10, not least the fact it will be a FREE upgrade to users of Windows 7 and 8.1. Towards the end of July, you will get a notification at the bottom left of your desktop (on the taskbar), which looks like a Windows logo and by clicking that it will notify Microsoft for your free upgrade and it will download automatically throughout August.
Microsoft have modernised Windows 10 (and it will work better on tablets), but with enough of the previous historical features that made Windows so popular. Will Windows 10 be perfect? No. But is it the better choice (and only choice) if you’re thinking of buying a new version of Windows in the near future? Absolutely. Even at this early stage of testing and previews, Windows 10 has proved that it’s a serious step forward from Windows 8.1 and we would always recommend having the most up to date software.
